MISSION TRIP

Matt. 19:14 - "Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the Kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these."

I had originally planned an educational evaluation program to look at early child educational programs, internationally, with the aim of helping to improve them. But God. As often happens, God had other plans. I learned all I could in this area of early child and educational evaluations, and then I was reminded of what should be the focus of my work - spreading the love of Christ. How I was reminded - last night I started reading Revolution in World Missions, by K.P. Yohannan. He stated that the program they have, 'Bridge of Hope for children, rescues thousands of children in Asia from a life of poverty and hopelessness by giving them an education and introducing them to the love of God. Through this effort, entire communities are transformed.' I was then reminded that my most fulfilling work, thus far in my long life, was teaching children in Thailand the academics and about the love of God.

So, one step at a time, but this is the path that I am on now. I will start with a trip to Kenya to visit an educational mission, Pace.

My goal - We plan to get a team together and leave January 2011. PACE (Pan African Christian Exchange) is a growing ministry based out of Nyahururu, Kenya. The aim is to equip the poor with affordable, quality education and health care and to reconnect African Church with our brothers and sisters of the Diaspora.

We plan to visit and see how they do what they do.

TRIP COSTS

The $1300(each) In-Kenya expenses, is based on 15 days in the country and on an evening arrival flight and an early morning departure flight. (Because, Nyahururu is (3) three hours away from the International Airport in Nairobi, and because we do not travel long distances at night, our visiting teams must stay overnight in a Nairobi guest house upon their arrival, if they arrive in the evening and the night before their departure if their return flight is in the morning.) If you can book your flight to arrive in the morning and/or to depart in the evening, you will be able to save on hotel (guest house) charges in Nairobi. (Round trip air expenses can average $1,150)

If you would like more information on this short term mission trip, and/or would like to participate on the educational team, or donate funds (all funds are sent directly to PACE HQ in Michigan), please contact Dr. Johnson by email at drwilmajohnson@yahoo.com
